Verbier is an alpine village in the Swiss canton of Valais. It is one of the most popular destinations for skiing, sports, and nature in the Swiss Alps.

The Lex KOLLER (LFAIE) imposes certain restrictions and regulates how and where foreign residents can buy property in the country: a maximum of one property in Switzerland per family, a living area of 200 m², and the obligation to keep the property for a minimum of five years.
The Lex WEBER also limits the number of second homes. Such properties may be renovated, converted, and rebuilt without losing their status as existing housing. They may be enlarged by up to 30% of the main usable floor space, provided that this does not result in the creation of new second home units. If the extension exceeds 30%, the property loses its status as existing housing and can no longer be used as a second home.
The Weber initiative aims to curb the construction of second homes in order to protect nature and the landscape.

If you live in Europe, it is very easy to reach Verbier by car. In winter, make sure you have snow tires or chains to drive in the resort!
